Hi everyone, here’s the first post of 2014. I thought I’d try a bright paint splatter design to help with the January blues. It’s really easy to do but is a bit messy, so make sure you put down plenty of paper towels before you start and have cotton buds and polish remover handy for clean up. For the design you’ll need a white or nude base colour, three or four bright colours of your choice and a thin straw. I also added a gold stud to each nail, but that’s optional. I used Essie’s Limo-scene for my base and my bright colours are Beauty UK’s Fuchsia, Blue Moon, Sage Green and Yellow. The studs are from Born Pretty Store.
Here’s what I used for the design.
Step 1: after your base coat dries apply two coats of your base colour and let it dry.
Step 2: dip your straw into one if your bright colours. Thin polishes are best for this, or you can mix a thicker polish with some thinner or acetone in a dish.
Step 3: hold the straw over your nails one by one and blow hard through the straw to spray the polish onto your nail.
Step 4: Repeat for each colour. Don’t forget to clean the straw with polish remover in between colours and give each colour a few minutes to dry before moving on.
Step 5: (optional) apply some topcoat to the base of your nails and place a rhinestone or stud.
Step 6: clean up around your nails, apply a top coat and your done.
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial, thanks for looking, Kirsteen.
